My Movie Watching Profile

GENDER: Female
FAVORITE GENRE: Horror, Suspense, Drama, Action, and Comedy in that order.
WHEN WATCHING MOVIES I:
Always turn on English Subtitles.-It's amazing how much dialogue you miss just because the actor is speaking too low or background action.
Want to be entertained, and even better if I am moved.
Cry if it's sad or has a really happy ending.
Like to be scared.
Am not afraid of watching a horror flick alone in the dark.
Have a tendency to get confused by overly intricate plots.
Enjoy eating snacks.
ABOUT ME:
I have always loved going to the movies and watching movies at home but I really started getting into even more when I first started living alone. It was a cheap and easy form of home entertainment for me. I joined Blockbuster Online so that I could watch a lot of movies without breaking the bank. This has fueled my joy of movie watching and enabled me to expand my selections to include a lot of independent and foreign films that a lot of people have never heard of instead of just the typical Blockbuster movies.

The Messenger

Starring:  Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster
Drama, Rated R (2009)

Will Montgomery (Foster) is a war vet recently returned from and injured in Iraq who has only three months remaining in his Army contract.  He is assigned the extremely difficult task of notifying soldier's families that they have died in combat.  He is put under the command of slightly off the wall, lonely, and recovering alcoholic Tony (Harrelson).  The two of them go about their duties and strike up an unexpected friendship in the process.
  • This movie gives you an inside look at a job that you know someone has to have but maybe haven't given a whole lot of thought to.  It is certainly a job that I would NEVER want to have.
  • The relationship between the two men goes through some ups and downs and they learn a lot more about each other as Will deals with a break up and Tony confronts his alcohol problem.
  • There are some slow moments.  The tone of the movie is very low key and mellow but overall it was good.
